Our website allows you to vet nonprofits through GuideStar, so you can be sure you're supporting legitimate organizations. Nonprofits themselves can also participate by registering on our website and selecting artworks to use as donation premiums. When those artworks sell, the revenue is split equally between the artist, the nonprofit, and HELPS-AUSTIN.

How to use HELPS-AUSTIN:

1. Search for nonprofits by entering queries in the search bar. Find businesses in a separate search page. See the menu above.
2. Like your favorite businesses, nonprofits, and art to identify favorites as you explore. All your favorites are in your account page.
3. Find business and nonprofit contacts on your account page. Review purchases and donations as well as your favorite artists.

Tips for exploring resources:

For something specific just enter a nonprofit name for instance or a specific need. If you're just exploring resources, try entering a single word followed by an asterisk to get a random result set. This may help you refine your search or learn about a topic. For example, try searching for 'Austin* ' or 'children*' or 'sports*' or 'art*'

Tips on using Guidestar:

Guidestar is an independent nonprofit resource that makes it much easier to verify the status of any entity claiming nonprofit status. We encourage you to use Guidestar to learn more about the nonprofits you're interested in. Please note that Guidestar does require you to create a free account to use their service.

Guide to businesses, artists, or nonprofits:

1. To participate as a business or artist, register and then upgrade your account. Your "entry fee" is a donation to your favorite nonprofit.
2. Nonprofit directors will need to be vetted to ensure they are authorized to update information about their nonprofit's mission, programs, and population served. These are the data fields we use in our searches. We want to ensure that only authorized organizations receive donations.
